i have come to the conclusion that while, yes, i have a baby to watch and am preventing him from dying cause he is in the phase of putting literally everything he finds on the floor in his mouth, i spend ample amount of time doing absolutely nothing.
for breakfast i usually make peanut butter toast with banana and cinnamon and i was getting through the bread rather quickly and that's another four dollars to spend. i found myself on tiktok immediately trying to find a sandwich bread recipe. i have never made bread in my life before. i had no idea how to knead or dust the counter with flour. i always feel stupid doing it with desserts. anyway, i said to hell with it and went to the supermarket to buy yeast.
as you expected, my first loaf ever did not turn out great. in all honesty, i accidentally did an extra rise. oops. yeah, it smelled like beer. it didn't taste bad though AND i made bread in the end. was super pale too :(
today i made tortillas. i'm mexican, i'm eating so many tortillas, making our own could save us some money and one batch made me 15 or so. they won't last as long in the fridge but i madeeee them. it's insane.
next on the list is making peanut butter! i'm kind of excited and not at the same time. i made pistachio butter a while ago cause i was obsessed with dubai chocolate desserts and i wanted to make it at home. it didn't work out. but maybe that prepares me for this.
do you guys make things from scratch? do you want to? how's it working out? what steps are being taken? i want to know!
